yÄvan na me hato bÄṇaiḥ
Å›ayÄ«thÄ muñca dÄrÄ«kÄm
smayan kṛṣṇo dhanuÅ› chittvÄ
á¹£aá¸bhir vivyÄdha rukmiṇam
yÄvat - while; na - not; me - my; hataḥ - killed; bÄṇaiḥ - by the arrows; Å›ayÄ«thaḥ - you lie down; muñca - release; dÄrÄ«kÄm - the girl; smayan - smiling; kṛṣṇaḥ - Lord Kṛṣṇa; dhanuḥ - his bow; chittvÄ - breaking; á¹£aá¸bhiḥ - with six (arrows); vivyÄdha - pierced; rukmiṇam - RukmÄ«.
“Release the girl before You are struck dead by my arrows and made to lie down!†In response to this, Lord Kṛṣṇa smiled, and with six arrows He struck Rukmī and broke his bow.
ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« points out that in fact Lord Kṛṣṇa was meant to lie down together with Rukmiṇī on a beautiful bed of flowers, but out of shyness RukmÄ« did not directly mention this point.
