sÅ«ta uvÄca
evaá¹ niÅ›amya bhagavÄn
devará¹£er janma karma ca
bhūyaḥ papraccha taṠbrahman
vyÄsaḥ satyavatÄ«-sutaḥ
sÅ«taḥ uvÄca - SÅ«ta said; evam - thus; niÅ›amya - hearing; bhagavÄn - the powerful incarnation of God; devará¹£eḥ - of the great sage among the gods; janma - birth; karma - work; ca - and; bhÅ«yaḥ - again; papraccha - asked; tam - him; brahman - O brÄhmaṇas; vyÄsaḥ - VyÄsadeva; satyavatÄ«-sutaḥ - the son of SatyavatÄ«.
VyÄsadeva was further inquisitive to know about the perfection of NÄradajÄ«, and therefore he wanted to know about him more and more. In this chapter NÄradajÄ« will describe how he was able to have a brief audience with the Lord while he was absorbed in the transcendental thought of separation from the Lord and when it was very painful for him.
