Indra, the King of heaven, was very proud of his position. Therefore when the residents of VášndÄvana decided not to perform the Indra-yajĂąa but instead to perform the Govardhana-yajĂąa in accordance with the instructions of KášášŁáša, Indra, because of his false pride, wanted to chastise the residents of VášndÄvana. Thinking himself extremely powerful, Indra poured incessant rain upon VášndÄvana, but Lord KášášŁáša immediately cut down his pride by lifting Govardhana Hill as an umbrella to save the residents of VášndÄvana. In this way KášášŁáša proved Indraâs power most insignificant in the presence of His own omnipotence.
