Chapter Summary

Purport
The following summary of the twentieth chapter is given by ÅšrÄ«la Bhaktivinoda ṬhÄkura in his Amá¹›ta-pravÄha-bhÄá¹£ya. ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu passed His nights tasting the meaning of the Åšiká¹£Äṣṭaka prayers in the company of SvarÅ«pa DÄmodara GosvÄmÄ« and RÄmÄnanda RÄya. Sometimes He recited verses from Jayadeva GosvÄmī’s GÄ«ta-govinda, from ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam, from ÅšrÄ« RÄmÄnanda RÄya’s JagannÄtha-vallabha-nÄá¹aka or from ÅšrÄ« Bilvamaá¹…gala ṬhÄkura’s Kṛṣṇa-karṇÄmá¹›ta. In this way, He became absorbed in ecstatic emotions. For the twelve years ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu lived at JagannÄtha PurÄ«, He relished the taste of reciting such transcendental verses. Altogether the Lord was present in this mortal world for forty-eight years. After hinting about the Lord’s disappearance, the author of the Caitanya-caritÄmá¹›ta gives a short description of the entire Antya-lÄ«lÄ and then ends his book.
