gopÄla-bhaá¹á¹ÄcÄrya - GopÄla Bhaá¹á¹ÄcÄrya; nÄma - named; tÄá¹…ra - his; choá¹a-bhÄi - younger brother; kÄśīte - at Benares; vedÄnta paá¸i' - studying VedÄnta philosophy; gelÄ - went; tÄá¹…ra á¹hÄñi - to his place.
During those days and also at the present, VedÄnta philosophy is understood through the commentary of Åšaá¹…karÄcÄrya, which is known as the ÅšÄrÄ«raka-bhÄá¹£ya. Thus it appears that GopÄla Bhaá¹á¹ÄcÄrya, the younger brother of BhagavÄn Ä€cÄrya, had studied VedÄnta according to the way of the ÅšÄrÄ«raka-bhÄá¹£ya, which expounds the MÄyÄvÄda philosophy of the impersonalists.
