gopyaÅ› ca kṛṣṇam upalabhya cirÄd abhīṣṭaá¹
yat-prekṣaṇe dṛśiṣu pakṣma-kṛtaṠśapanti
dá¹›gbhir há¹›dÄ«-ká¹›tam alaá¹ parirabhya sarvÄs
tad-bhÄvam Äpur api nitya-yujÄá¹ durÄpam

 gopyaḥ - the gopÄ«s; ca - and; kṛṣṇam - Lord Kṛṣṇa; upalabhya - seeing; cirÄt - after a long time; abhīṣṭam - desired object; yat-preká¹£aṇe - in the seeing of whom; dṛśiá¹£u - in the eyes; paká¹£ma-ká¹›tam - the maker of eyelashes; Å›apanti - curse; dá¹›gbhiḥ - with the eyes; há¹›dÄ« ká¹›tam - who entered the hearts; alam - enough; parirabhya - embracing; sarvÄḥ - all; tat-bhÄvam - that highest stage of joy; Äpuḥ - obtained; api - although; nitya-yujÄm - by perfected yogÄ«s; durÄpam - difficult to obtain.


Text

“The gopÄ«s saw their beloved Kṛṣṇa at Kuruká¹£etra after a long separation. They secured and embraced Him in their hearts through their eyes, and they attained a joy so intense that not even perfect yogÄ«s can attain it. The gopÄ«s cursed the creator for creating eyelids that interfered with their vision.â€
