The thirteenth chapter describes Lord Caitanya MahÄprabhu’s appearance. The entire Ä€di-lÄ«lÄ describes Lord Caitanya MahÄprabhu’s household life, and similarly the Antya-lÄ«lÄ describes His life in the sannyÄsa order. Within the Lord’s antya-lÄ«lÄ, the first six years of His sannyÄsa life are called the madhya-lÄ«lÄ. During this time, Caitanya MahÄprabhu toured southern India, went to Vá¹›ndÄvana, returned from Vá¹›ndÄvana and preached the saá¹…kÄ«rtana movement.A learned brÄhmaṇa named Upendra MiÅ›ra, who resided in the district of ÅšrÄ«haá¹á¹a, was the father of JagannÄtha MiÅ›ra, who came to NavadvÄ«pa to study under the direction of NÄ«lÄmbara CakravartÄ« and then settled there after marrying NÄ«lÄmbara Cakravartī’s daughter, ÅšacÄ«devÄ«. ÅšrÄ« ÅšacÄ«devÄ« gave birth to eight children, all daughters, who died one after another immediately after birth. After her ninth pregnancy she gave birth to a son, who was named ViÅ›varÅ«pa. Then, in 1407 Åšaka Era (A.D. 1486), in the full-moon evening of the month of PhÄlguna, with the constellation of Siá¹ha (Leo) on the horizon, Lord Caitanya MahÄprabhu appeared as the son of ÅšrÄ« ÅšacÄ«devÄ« and JagannÄtha MiÅ›ra. After hearing of the birth of Caitanya MahÄprabhu, learned scholars and brÄhmaṇas, bringing many gifts, came to see the newborn baby. NÄ«lÄmbara CakravartÄ«, who was a great astrologer, immediately prepared a horoscope, and by astrological calculation he saw that the child was a great personality. This chapter describes the symptoms of this great personality.
