Text

When NityÄnanda Prabhu was ordered to go to Bengal to preach, these two devotees [ÅšrÄ« RÄmadÄsa and GadÄdhara dÄsa] were ordered to go with Him. Thus they are sometimes counted among the devotees of Lord Caitanya and sometimes among the devotees of Lord NityÄnanda. Similarly, MÄdhava Ghoá¹£a and VÄsudeva Ghoá¹£a belonged to both groups of devotees simultaneously.

ÅšrÄ«la BhaktisiddhÄnta SarasvatÄ« ṬhÄkura writes in his AnubhÄá¹£ya, “There is a place named DÄá¹…ihÄá¹a, near the AgradvÄ«pa railway station and PÄá¹uli in the district of Burdwan, where the Deity of ÅšrÄ« GopÄ«nÄthajÄ« is still situated. This Deity accepted Govinda Ghoá¹£a as His father. Even until today, the Deity performs the Å›rÄddha ceremony on the anniversary of the death of Govinda Ghoá¹£a. The temple of this Deity is managed by the rÄja-vaá¹Å›a family of Kṛṣṇanagara, whose members are descendants of RÄjÄ Kṛṣṇacandra. Every year in the month of VaiÅ›Äkha, when there is a bÄradola ceremony, this GopÄ«nÄtha Deity is taken to Kṛṣṇanagara. The ceremony is performed with eleven other Deities, and then ÅšrÄ« GopÄ«nÄthajÄ« is brought back to the temple in AgradvÄ«pa.â€
