In accordance with the directions of the revealed scriptures, both GosvÄmÄ«s excavated the lost places of pilgrimage and inaugurated the worship of Deities in Vá¹›ndÄvana.

Purport

The spot where we now find ÅšrÄ« RÄdhÄ-kuṇá¸a was an agricultural field during the time of Caitanya MahÄprabhu. A small reservoir of water was there, and ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu bathed in that water and pointed out that originally RÄdhÄ-kuṇá¸a existed in that location. Following His directions, ÅšrÄ«la RÅ«pa GosvÄmÄ« and SanÄtana GosvÄmÄ« renovated RÄdhÄ-kuṇá¸a. This is one of the brilliant examples of how the GosvÄmÄ«s excavated lost places of pilgrimage. Similarly, it is through the endeavor of the GosvÄmÄ«s that all the important temples in Vá¹›ndÄvana were established. Originally there were seven important Gauá¸Ä«ya Vaiṣṇava temples established in Vá¹›ndÄvana, namely the Madana-mohana temple, Govinda temple, GopÄ«nÄtha temple, ÅšrÄ« RÄdhÄramaṇa temple, RÄdhÄ-ÅšyÄmasundara temple, RÄdhÄ-DÄmodara temple and GokulÄnanda temple.
