prabhura paá¸uyÄ dui - the Lord's two students; puruá¹£ottama - Puruá¹£ottama; sañjaya - Sañjaya; vyÄkaraṇe - studying grammar; dui Å›iá¹£ya - two disciples; dui mahÄÅ›aya - very great personalities.
These two students were inhabitants of NavadvÄ«pa and were the Lord’s first companions in the saá¹…kÄ«rtana movement. According to the Caitanya-bhÄgavata, Puruá¹£ottama Sañjaya was the son of Mukunda Sañjaya, but the author of ÅšrÄ« Caitanya-caritÄmá¹›ta has clarified that Puruá¹£ottama and Sañjaya were two people, not one.
