राक्षसं भावमापन्नः पादे कल्माषतां गतः ।
व्यवायकाले ददृशे वनौकोदम्पती द्विजौ ॥२५॥

pÄde kalmÄá¹£atÄá¹ gataḥ
vyavÄya-kÄle dadṛśe
vanauko-dampatī dvijau

 rÄká¹£asam - man-eating; bhÄvam - propensity; Äpannaḥ - having gotten; pÄde - on the leg; kalmÄá¹£atÄm - a black spot; gataḥ - obtained; vyavÄya-kÄle - at the time of sexual intercourse; dadṛśe - he saw; vana-okaḥ - living in the forest; dam-patÄ« - a husband and wife; dvijau - who were brÄhmaṇas.

SaudÄsa thus acquired the propensity of a man-eater and received on his leg a black spot, for which he was known as KalmÄá¹£apÄda. Once King KalmÄá¹£apÄda saw a brÄhmaṇa couple engaged in sexual intercourse in the forest.
