श्रीभगवानुवाच
अश्वोऽयं नीयतां वत्स पितामहपशुस्तव ।
इमे च पितरो दग्धा गङ्गाम्भोऽर्हन्ति नेतरत् ॥२८॥

pitÄmaha-paÅ›us tava
ime ca pitaro dagdhÄ
gaá¹…gÄmbho 'rhanti netarat

 Å›rÄ«-bhagavÄn uvÄca - the great personality Kapila Muni said; aÅ›vaḥ - horse; ayam - this; nÄ«yatÄm - take; vatsa - O My son; pitÄmaha - of your grandfather; paÅ›uḥ - this animal; tava - your; ime - all these; ca - also; pitaraḥ - bodies of forefathers; dagdhÄḥ - burnt to ashes; gaá¹…gÄ-ambhaḥ - the water of the Ganges; arhanti - can be saved; na - not; itarat - any other means.

The Personality of Godhead said: My dear Aá¹Å›umÄn, here is the animal sought by your grandfather for sacrifice. Please take it. As for your forefathers, who have been burnt to ashes, they can be delivered only by Ganges water, and not by any other means.
