kṣuvatas tu manor jajñe
iká¹£vÄkur ghrÄṇataḥ sutaḥ
tasya putra-Å›ata-jyeá¹£á¹hÄ
vikuká¹£i-nimi-daṇá¸akÄḥ
ká¹£uvataḥ - while sneezing; tu - but; manoḥ - of Manu; jajñe - was born; iká¹£vÄkuḥ - by the name Iká¹£vÄku; ghrÄṇataḥ - from the nostrils; sutaḥ - the son; tasya - of Iká¹£vÄku; putra-Å›ata - one hundred sons; jyeá¹£á¹hÄḥ - prominent; vikuká¹£i - of the name Vikuká¹£i; nimi - by the name Nimi; daṇá¸akÄḥ - by the name Daṇá¸akÄ.
According to ÅšrÄ«dhara SvÄmÄ«, although the BhÄgavatam (9.1.11-12) has previously included Iká¹£vÄku among the ten sons begotten by Manu in his wife ÅšraddhÄ, this was a generalization. It is here specifically explained that Iká¹£vÄku was born simply from the sneezing of Manu.
