शशबिन्दोर्दुहितरि बिन्दुमत्यामधान्नृपः ।
पुरुकुत्समम्बरीषं मुचुकुन्दं च योगिनम् ।
तेषां स्वसारः पञ्चाशत् सौभरिं वव्रिरे पतिम् ॥३८॥

mucukundaá¹ ca yoginam
teá¹£Äá¹ svasÄraḥ pañcÄÅ›at
saubhariá¹ vavrire patim

 Å›aÅ›abindoḥ - of a king known as ÅšaÅ›abindu; duhitari - unto the daughter; bindumatyÄm - whose name was BindumatÄ«; adhÄt - begot; ná¹›paḥ - the King (MÄndhÄtÄ); purukutsam - Purukutsa; ambarÄ«á¹£am - AmbarÄ«á¹£a; mucukundam - Mucukunda; ca - and; yoginam - a highly elevated mystic; teá¹£Äm - of them; svasÄraḥ - the sisters; pañcÄÅ›at - fifty; saubharim - unto the great sage Saubhari; vavrire - accepted; patim - as husband.


Text

MÄndhÄtÄ begot three sons in the womb of BindumatÄ«, the daughter of ÅšaÅ›abindu. These sons were Purukutsa, AmbarÄ«á¹£a, and Mucukunda, a great mystic yogÄ«. These three brothers had fifty sisters, who all accepted the great sage Saubhari as their husband.
