एते क्षेत्रप्रसूता वै पुनस्त्वाङ्गिरसाः स्मृताः ।

 ete - the sons begotten by Aá¹…girÄ; ká¹£etra-prasÅ«tÄḥ - became the children of RathÄ«tara and belonged to his family (because they were born from the womb of his wife); vai - indeed; punaḥ - again; tu - but; Äá¹…girasÄḥ - of the dynasty of Aá¹…girÄ; smá¹›tÄḥ - they were called; rathÄ«tarÄṇÄm - of all the sons of RathÄ«tara; pravarÄḥ - the chief; ká¹£etra-upetÄḥ - because of being born of the ká¹£etra (field); dvi-jÄtayaḥ - called brÄhmaṇa (being a mixture of brÄhmaṇa and ká¹£atriya).

Having been born from the womb of RathÄ«tara’s wife, all these sons were known as the dynasty of RathÄ«tara, but because they were born from the semen of Aá¹…girÄ, they were also known as the dynasty of Aá¹…girÄ. Among all the progeny of RathÄ«tara, these sons were the most prominent because, owing to their birth, they were considered brÄhmaṇas.
