श्रीराजोवाच
भगवन्छ्रोतुमिच्छामि राजर्षेस्तस्य धीमतः ।
न प्राभूद् यत्र निर्मुक्तो ब्रह्मदण्डो दुरत्ययः ॥१४॥

bhagavañ chrotum icchÄmi
rÄjará¹£es tasya dhÄ«mataḥ
na prÄbhÅ«d yatra nirmukto
brahma-daṇá¸o duratyayaḥ

 Å›rÄ«-rÄjÄ uvÄca - King ParÄ«ká¹£it inquired; bhagavan - O great brÄhmaṇa; Å›rotum icchÄmi - I wish to hear (from you); rÄjará¹£eḥ - of the great King AmbarÄ«á¹£a; tasya - of him; dhÄ«mataḥ - who was such a greatly sober personality; na - not; prÄbhÅ«t - could act; yatra - upon whom (MahÄrÄja AmbarÄ«á¹£a); nirmuktaḥ - being released; brahma-daṇá¸aḥ - the curse of a brÄhmaṇa; duratyayaḥ - which is insurmountable.

King ParÄ«ká¹£it inquired: O great personality, MahÄrÄja AmbarÄ«á¹£a was certainly most exalted and meritorious in character. I wish to hear about him. How surprising it is that the curse of a brÄhmaṇa, which is insurmountable, could not act upon him.
