दण्डपाणिर्निमिस्तस्य क्षेमको भविता यतः ।
ब्रह्मक्षत्रस्य वै योनिर्वंशो देवर्षिसत्कृतः ॥४४॥
क्षेमकं प्राप्य राजानं संस्थां प्राप्स्यति वै कलौ ।
अथ मागधराजानो भाविनो ये वदामि ते ॥४५॥

daṇá¸apÄṇir nimis tasya
ká¹£emako bhavitÄ yataḥ
brahma-ká¹£atrasya vai yonir
vamśo devarṣi-satkṛtaḥ
ká¹£emakaá¹ prÄpya rÄjÄnaá¹
saá¹sthÄá¹ prÄpsyati vai kalau
atha mÄgadha-rÄjÄno
bhÄvino ye vadÄmi te

 daṇá¸apÄṇiḥ - Daṇá¸apÄṇi; nimiḥ - Nimi; tasya - from him (MahÄ«nara); ká¹£emakaḥ - a son named Ká¹£emaka; bhavitÄ - will take birth; yataḥ - from whom (Nimi); brahma-ká¹£atrasya - of brÄhmaṇas and ká¹£atriyas; vai - indeed; yoniḥ - the source; vamÅ›aḥ - the dynasty; deva-ṛṣi-satká¹›taḥ - respected by great saintly persons and demigods; ká¹£emakam - King Ká¹£emaka; prÄpya - up to this point; rÄjÄnam - the monarch; saá¹sthÄm - an end to them; prÄpsyati - there will be; vai - indeed; kalau - in this Kali-yuga; atha - thereafter; mÄgadha-rÄjÄnaḥ - the kings in the MÄgadha dynasty; bhÄvinaḥ - the future; ye - all those who; vadÄmi - I shall explain; te - unto you.

The son of MahÄ«nara will be Daṇá¸apÄṇi, and his son will be Nimi, from whom King Ká¹£emaka will be born. I have now described to you the moon-god’s dynasty, which is the source of brÄhmaṇas and ká¹£atriyas and is worshiped by demigods and great saints. In this Kali-yuga, Ká¹£emaka will be the last monarch. Now I shall describe to you the future of the MÄgadha dynasty. Please listen.
