 tasya - of Janamejaya; putraḥ - the son; Å›atÄnÄ«kaḥ - ÅšatÄnÄ«ka; yÄjñavalkyÄt - from the great sage known as YÄjñavalkya; trayÄ«m - the three Vedas (SÄma, Yajur and Ṛg); paá¹­han - studying thoroughly; astra-jñÄnam - the art of military administration; kriyÄ-jñÄnam - the art of performing ritualistic ceremonies; Å›aunakÄt - from Åšaunaka Ṛṣi; param - transcendental knowledge; eá¹£yati - will achieve.

The son of Janamejaya known as ÅšatÄnÄ«ka will learn from YÄjñavalkya the three Vedas and the art of performing ritualistic ceremonies. He will also learn the military art from Ká¹›pÄcÄrya and the transcendental science from the sage Åšaunaka.
