गान्धार्यां धृतराष्ट्रस्य जज्ञे पुत्रशतं नृप ।

 gÄndhÄryÄm - in the womb of GÄndhÄrÄ«; dhá¹›tarÄṣṭrasya - of Dhá¹›tarÄṣṭra; jajñe - were born; putra-Å›atam - one hundred sons; ná¹›pa - O King ParÄ«ká¹£it; tatra - among the sons; duryodhanaḥ - the son named Duryodhana; jyeṣṭhaḥ - the eldest; duḥśalÄ - DuḥśalÄ; ca api - also; kanyakÄ - one daughter.

Dhá¹›tarÄṣṭra’s wife, GÄndhÄrÄ«, gave birth to one hundred sons and one daughter, O King. The oldest of the sons was Duryodhana, and the daughter’s name was DuḥśalÄ.
