 karÅ«á¹£Ät - from KarÅ«á¹£a; mÄnavÄt - from the son of Manu; Äsan - there was; kÄrÅ«á¹£Äḥ - called the KÄrÅ«á¹£as; ká¹£atra-jÄtayaḥ - a group of ká¹£atriyas; uttarÄ - northern; patha - of the direction; goptÄraḥ - kings; brahmaṇyÄḥ - celebrated protectors of the brahminical culture; dharma-vatsalÄḥ - extremely religious.

From KarÅ«á¹£a, another son of Manu, came the KÄrÅ«á¹£a dynasty, a family of ká¹£atriyas. The KÄrÅ«á¹£a ká¹£atriyas were the kings of the northern direction. They were celebrated protectors of brahminical culture and were all firmly religious.
