सोऽपि चानुगतः स्त्रैणः कृपणस्तां प्रसादितुम् ।
कुर्वन्निडविडाकारं नाशक्नोत् पथि संधितुम् ॥९॥

so 'pi cÄnugataḥ straiṇaḥ
ká¹›paṇas tÄá¹ prasÄditum
kurvann iá¸aviá¸Ä-kÄraá¹
nÄÅ›aknot pathi sandhitum

 saḥ - that he-goat; api - also; ca - also; anugataḥ - following the she-goat; straiṇaḥ - hen pecked; ká¹›paṇaḥ - very poor; tÄm - her; prasÄditum - to satisfy; kurvan - making; iá¸aviá¸Ä-kÄram - an utterance in the language of the goats; na - not; aÅ›aknot - was able; pathi - on the road; sandhitum - to satisfy.
