Chapter 16: Lord Parasurama Destroys the World's Ruling Class. Text 30

पुत्रं कृत्वा शुनःशेफं देवरातं च भार्गवम् ।
आजीगर्तं सुतानाह ज्येष्ठ एष प्रकल्प्यताम् ॥३०॥

putraá¹ ká¹›tvÄ Å›unaḥśephaá¹
devarÄtaá¹ ca bhÄrgavam
ÄjÄ«gartaá¹ sutÄn Äha
jyeṣṭha eá¹£a prakalpyatÄm

 putram - a son; ká¹›tvÄ - accepting; Å›unaḥśepham - whose name was Åšunaḥśepha; devarÄtam - DevarÄta, whose life was saved by the demigods; ca - also; bhÄrgavam - born in the Bhá¹›gu dynasty; ÄjÄ«gartam - the son of AjÄ«garta; sutÄn - to his own sons; Äha - ordered; jyeṣṭhaḥ - the eldest; eá¹£aḥ - Åšunaḥśepha; prakalpyatÄm - accept as such.

ViÅ›vÄmitra accepted the son of AjÄ«garta known as Åšunaḥśepha, who was born in the Bhá¹›gu dynasty and was also known as DevarÄta, as one of his own sons. ViÅ›vÄmitra ordered his other sons to accept Åšunaḥśepha as their eldest brother.
