O King ParÄ«ká¹£it, ViÅ›vÄmitra had 101 sons, of whom the middle one was known as MadhucchandÄ. In relation to him, all the other sons were celebrated as the MadhucchandÄs.

In this connection, ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« ṬhÄkura quotes this statement from the Vedas: tasya ha viÅ›vÄmitrasyaika-Å›ataá¹ putrÄ Äsuḥ pañcÄÅ›ad eva jyÄyÄá¹so madhucchandasaḥ pañcÄÅ›at kanÄ«yÄá¹saḥ. “ViÅ›vÄmitra had 101 sons. Fifty were older than MadhucchandÄ and fifty younger.â€
