याच्यमानाः कृपणया राममात्रातिदारुणाः ।
प्रसह्य शिर उत्कृत्य निन्युस्ते क्षत्रबन्धवः ॥१२॥

rÄma-mÄtrÄtidÄruṇÄḥ
prasahya śira utkṛtya
ninyus te kṣatra-bandhavaḥ

 yÄcyamÄnÄḥ - being begged for the life of her husband; ká¹›paṇayÄ - by the poor unprotected woman; rÄma-mÄtrÄ - by the mother of Lord ParaÅ›urÄma; ati-dÄruṇÄḥ - very cruel; prasahya - by force; Å›iraḥ - the head of Jamadagni; utká¹›tya - having separated; ninyuḥ - took away; te - the sons of KÄrtavÄ«ryÄrjuna; ká¹£atra-bandhavaḥ - not ká¹£atriyas, but the most abominable sons of ká¹£atriyas.

With pitiable prayers, ReṇukÄ, the mother of ParaÅ›urÄma and wife of Jamadagni, begged for the life of her husband. But the sons of KÄrtavÄ«ryÄrjuna, being devoid of the qualities of ká¹£atriyas, were so cruel that despite her prayers they forcibly cut off his head and took it away.
