 munau - unto the great sage VÄlmÄ«ki; niká¹£ipya - giving in charge; tanayau - the two sons Lava and KuÅ›a; sÄ«tÄ - mother SÄ«tÄdevÄ«; bhartrÄ - by her husband; vivÄsitÄ - banished; dhyÄyantÄ« - meditating upon; rÄma-caraṇau - the lotus feet of Lord RÄmacandra; vivaram - within the earth; praviveÅ›a - she entered; ha - indeed.

Being forsaken by her husband, SÄ«tÄdevÄ« entrusted her two sons to the care of VÄlmÄ«ki Muni. Then, meditating upon the lotus feet of Lord RÄmacandra, she entered into the earth.

Purport

It was impossible for SÄ«tÄdevÄ« to live in separation from Lord RÄmacandra. Therefore, after entrusting her two sons to the care of VÄlmÄ«ki Muni, she entered into the earth.
