स्त्रैणस्य चापि शिरसा जगृहे सभार्यः ।
राज्यं श्रियं प्रणयिनः सुहृदो निवासं
त्यक्त्वा ययौ वनमसूनिव मुक्तसङ्गः ॥८॥

straiṇasya cÄpi Å›irasÄ jagá¹›he sabhÄryaḥ
rÄjyaá¹ Å›riyaá¹ praṇayinaḥ suhá¹›do nivÄsaá¹
tyaktvÄ yayau vanam asÅ«n iva mukta-saá¹…gaḥ
yaḥ - Lord RÄmacandra who; satya-pÄÅ›a-parivÄ«ta-pituḥ - of His father, who was bound by the promise to his wife; nideÅ›am - the order; straiṇasya - of the father who was very much attached to his wife; ca - also; api - indeed; Å›irasÄ - on His head; jagá¹›he - accepted; sa-bhÄryaḥ - with His wife; rÄjyam - the kingdom; Å›riyam - opulence; praṇayinaḥ - relatives; suhá¹›daḥ - friends; nivÄsam - residence; tyaktvÄ - giving up; yayau - went; vanam - to the forest; asÅ«n - life; iva - like; mukta-saá¹…gaḥ - a liberated soul.
Carrying out the order of His father, who was bound by a promise to his wife, Lord RÄmacandra left behind His kingdom, opulence, friends, well-wishers, residence and everything else, just as a liberated soul gives up his life, and went to the forest with SÄ«tÄ.
MahÄrÄja DaÅ›aratha had three wives. One of them, KaikeyÄ«, served him very pleasingly, and he therefore wanted to give her a benediction. KaikeyÄ«, however, said that she would ask for the benediction when it was necessary. At the time of the coronation of Prince RÄmacandra, KaikeyÄ« requested her husband to enthrone her son Bharata and send RÄmacandra to the forest. MahÄrÄja DaÅ›aratha, being bound by his promise, ordered RÄmacandra to go to the forest, according to the dictation of his beloved. And the Lord, as an obedient son, accepted the order immediately. He left everything without hesitation, just as a liberated soul or great yogÄ« gives up his life without material attraction.
