tataḥ - thereafter; pariṇate kÄle - when the time was ripe; pratiá¹£á¹hÄna-patiḥ - the master of the kingdom; prabhuḥ - very powerful; purÅ«ravase - unto PurÅ«ravÄ; utsá¹›jya - delivering; gÄm - the world; putrÄya - unto his son; gataḥ - departed; vanam - to the forest.
According to the Vedic system, one within the institution of varṇa and ÄÅ›rama must leave his family life after he reaches fifty years of age (pañcÄÅ›ordhvaá¹ vanaá¹ vrajet).
