तत्र श्रद्धा मनोः पत्नी होतारं समयाचत ।
दुहित्रर्थमुपागम्य प्रणिपत्य पयोव्रता ॥१४॥

tatra Å›raddhÄ manoḥ patnÄ«
hotÄraá¹ samayÄcata
duhitrartham upÄgamya
praṇipatya payovratÄ

 tatra - in that sacrifice; Å›raddhÄ - ÅšraddhÄ; manoḥ - of Manu; patnÄ« - the wife; hotÄram - to the priest performing the yajña; samayÄcata - begged properly; duhitá¹›-artham - for a daughter; upÄgamya - coming near; praṇipatya - offering obeisances; payaḥ-vratÄ - who was observing the vow of drinking only milk.

During that sacrifice, ÅšraddhÄ, Manu’s wife, who was observing the vow of subsisting only by drinking milk, approached the priest offering the sacrifice, offered obeisances to him and begged for a daughter.
