tatheti sutam ÄdÄya
yayÄv Änakadundubhiḥ
nÄbhyanandata tad-vÄkyam
asato 'vijitÄtmanaḥ

 tathÄ - very well; iti - thus; sutam ÄdÄya - taking back his child; yayau - left that place; Änakadundubhiḥ - Vasudeva; na abhyanandata - did not very much value; tat-vÄkyam - the words (of Kaá¹sa); asataḥ - who was without character; avijita-Ätmanaḥ - and without self-control.

Vasudeva agreed and took his child back home, but because Kaá¹sa had no character and no self-control, Vasudeva knew that he could not rely on Kaá¹sa’s word.
