गान्धारी धृतराष्ट्रश्च युयुत्सुर्गौतमो यमौ ॥९॥
वृकोदरश्च धौम्यश्च स्त्रियो मत्स्यसुतादयः ।
न सेहिरे विमुह्यन्तो विरहं शार्ङ्गधन्वनः ॥१०॥

subhadrÄ - the sister of Kṛṣṇa; draupadÄ« - the wife of the PÄṇá¸avas; kuntÄ« - the mother of the PÄṇá¸avas; virÄá¹a-tanayÄ - the daughter of VirÄá¹a (UttarÄ); tathÄ - also; gÄndhÄrÄ« - the mother of Duryodhana; dhá¹›tarÄá¹£á¹raḥ - the father of Duryodhana; ca - and; yuyutsuḥ - the son of Dhá¹›tarÄá¹£á¹ra by his vaiÅ›ya wife; gautamaḥ - Ká¹›pÄcÄrya; yamau - the twin brothers Nakula and Sahadeva; vá¹›kodaraḥ - BhÄ«ma; ca - and; dhaumyaḥ - Dhaumya; ca - and; striyaḥ - also other ladies of the palace; matsya-sutÄ-Ädayaḥ - the daughter of a fisherman (SatyavatÄ«, BhÄ«á¹£ma's stepmother); na - could not; sehire - tolerate; vimuhyantaḥ - almost fainting; viraham - separation; Å›Ärá¹…ga-dhanvanaḥ - of ÅšrÄ« Kṛṣṇa, who bears a conch in His hand.
At that time SubhadrÄ, DraupadÄ«, KuntÄ«, UttarÄ, GÄndhÄrÄ«, Dhá¹›tarÄá¹£á¹ra, Yuyutsu, Ká¹›pÄcÄrya, Nakula, Sahadeva, BhÄ«masena, Dhaumya and SatyavatÄ« all nearly fainted because it was impossible for them to bear separation from Lord Kṛṣṇa.
Lord ÅšrÄ« Kṛṣṇa is so attractive for the living beings, especially for the devotees, that it is impossible for them to tolerate separation. The conditioned soul under the spell of illusory energy forgets the Lord, otherwise he cannot. The feeling of such separation cannot be described, but it can simply be imagined by devotees only. After His separation from Vá¹›ndÄvana and the innocent rural cowherd boys, girls, ladies and others, they all felt shock throughout their lives, and the separation of RÄdhÄrÄṇī, the most beloved cowherd girl, is beyond expression. Once they met at Kuruká¹£etra during a solar eclipse, and the feeling which was expressed by them is heartrending. There is, of course, a difference in the qualities of the transcendental devotees of the Lord, but none of them who have ever contacted the Lord by direct communion or otherwise can leave Him for a moment. That is the attitude of the pure devotee.
